DAY 8: Weekend 2.0

Updated: Nov 15, 2018

We were supposed to go to church at the morning, but since some of us doesn’t feel good and woke up late, we decided to skip the mass for today. And because we don’t want to cage ourselves in our dormitories, the five of us went to Centre Point with Gita not even knowing what we’ll do there. Angel doesn’t feel well so she stayed to take more rest. We stroll around the mall to see where we can go and buy stuff, and we went pass this Asian cuisine restaurant that has dimsum and oh, the smell, is immaculate! It’s lunch time, we’re all starving and the smell triggered the monsters in our stomach. There’s a lot of people so we had to wait, but there’s also a lot people on the waiting list so we strolled around some more to find other restaurants we may eat. We found Pepper Lunch, Steak 21, and Richeese Factory. We voted on where most people would rather eat and it all goes back to the first restaurant we saw, which is the Nelayan Kafe: Dimsum & Asian Cuisine.

While waiting, Triin asked me to go with her to go around the floor and we found this ice cream parlor with a very eye-catching aura. We checked on to the flavors and converted the price to Philippine Peso so we could judge if it’s pricey. It’s really cheap considering the size of the cone and the amount of serving. We went back to the group to announce the good news and agreed that we’ll have some desserts after we eat. A few moments after, we were called and assisted to our table. The place is really nice: it has a nice dim light, perfect for eating and dates, there’s a fake cherry blossom tree at the middle that made us feel like we’re in Japan. We sat down and scanned the menu, then waiters with food on trays started coming. Gita talked to them and informed us that foods are really passed around and if you like to try it, you could just get it from them instead of ordering the food and wait for a few minutes more to arrive. They’ll just add it to your bill and you can enjoy the food. Good thing that we have Gita with us, otherwise, we won’t be able to understand a single thing these people are saying. We bought different kinds of dimsum and agreed that there should be no same dishes so we could share and taste a little bit of everything. We ordered a lot of food, underestimating how heavy these dimsums are to our stomachs. We took away the foods we failed to finish and let them be our dinner. Our stomachs are very full that it has no more space for dessert, so we cancelled are ice cream session and walked around the mall. We went to stores that has discounts, and scanned through Victoria Secret and H&M. Ally and Miel decided to go home first. I guess they’re not really into walking around stuff. Triin and I found these cute dresses for a low price and tried it on. We both liked what we fitted and bought it afterwards. It’s still early and we don’t want to waste the day so we decided to go to the biggest temple in Indonesia, Maha Vihara Maitreya. We booked a Grab there and unfortunately, we got lost. Turned out, there are a lot of temples that has the same name and we accidentally entered an incorrect address. We had to book another Grab to take us there. I actually feel a little tired already so I slept on our way to the temple to recharge even just for a while. Finally, we arrived! Since it’s a Buddhist temple, we can’t really go inside because we’re not Buddhist. We took photos and tried to light some of those sticks they pray with. We dropped our donation, and tried to pray with those sticks we lit. We don’t even know if we’re doing it right or what but at least we experienced it. Just near from that temple is Cemara Asri. It’s like a place where those white birds stay (I don’t know what they’re called) that really looks beautiful! They look like white flowers from afar because they are so many. I would like to take a photo of it but we took much time at the temple that we finished kinda late and it’s already dark so our cameras can’t really snap it. Later on, Gita showed us a few of caged snakes over there. They’re really long and big! Too bad we can’t see it that clearly because it’s already dark. Before heading home, we first find somewhere to eat. I think we already ate enough food earlier that could still cover until dinner time, so we went to a café instead. The café we went to has a really nice ambiance and it looks like a high-standard café that made me and Triin excited since we really love kopi susu. We ordered our drinks and snacks and ate the food we took out from the restaurant earlier. Then, that’s our dinner! We went home and call it a day.
